What Is Idealism

Philosophy : Philosophy Definitions

Idealism is an intriguing theory, that posits this:

- the world (reality) is not 'actual' independent of the mind, but is rather somehow connected or co-ordinated by the mind. The external world is not, therefore, totally independent of the human mind.

There are various forms of idealism, one of which was famously held by Berkeley. Many theories are based on religious foundations, and may hold for instance that the world merely exists in the mind of God, in which we are all players.
