What Is Success

Self Development : Success

Many people say that they want to be a success. They want to achieve success. They want, above all, to be successful.

Strange, then, that very few people actually stop to think 'what is success, what does success mean to me?'

And therein lies the problem. Success is only relative to our own expectations.

For instance if you start a new company and make a million you would certainly consider yourself an overwhelming success. However, if a billionaire started a new company and it only achieved a profit of a million after a few years, they might be disappointed and not consider it a success.

The point is that our expectations, experience and the state of our life and those around us is very clearly linked to what we think of as success.

Therefore if you want to achieve success and don't think you have it now, you need to take the time to sit down quietly and write down on paper what success is for you. Write it in concrete language and set out bullet points of what you want to achieve.

Once you do that you take the first step to success by making the idea real for you. Otherwise success is just a castle in the sky that you can never ascend to.
