If you over do from the start, the health consequences can be serious. On an equally pessimistic note, you should also know that once you have the all clear, you should not push yourself too hard. The fact is that if you exercise as though you are a pro when you are not, your body will not be able to keep up. The strain on your body and the immune system can be very high, and therefore doing too much exercise can actually make you more likely to get ill and catch a bug. Therefore of course exercise - yes - but do so in moderation and don't push your limits too far.
