Which Planets Have Moons

Education : Physics

In our solar system, all the planets have moons apart from Venus and Mercury. These are the too closest planets to the Sun.

Is there a reason why the closer the planet to the Sun the less likely it seems to be that it will have moons?

Well, with the stronger pull of the Star the closer to the Star you are, any small objects would most likely be captured by the Sun's gravity rather than by that of the planet.

In fact many think even the Moon's earth was caused by some large impactor smashing into the earth billions of years ago and spewing matter from the earth into space - so the moon is earth rock too if this is correct.
