Why Your Non-www Address Could Be Losing You Traffic

Computing : Online Marketing

Not all search engines handle the difference between www and non-www versions of your site well, for instance:
www.mysite.com
and mysite.com

In addition some servers will only return the content on one meaning that if people type in the other version into their web browser they will be disappointed and not come through to your site, this is definitely not what you want to happen!

Given this, what should you do? Well, the key is to ensure that you redirect the non-www version to the www version, or indeed vice versa if you prefer if that way.

This can be done quite easily on many servers; for instance with an Apache server adding one line to your .htaccess file will cover this off: search on google for more information on how to do this or read the appropriate article on Tell Me How.
