| Games : Board Games There is one key strategy in Monopoly, and it is quite obvious. Yet too many people don't do it! That strategy is to be the first player to build on a property. That's because the only way to make enough money to win the game and hurt opponents is through developing a set. Therefore you should consider these tips: - if you have two of a set and another player has the third, give them a very generous offer (for instance other useless properties) to secure the property - don't worry about using virtually all your money to build on your set if no-one else has yet made a set: you should soon make the money back - always be sure to place houses in preference on the property of the set that has the highest rent - this is always the furthest property from 'go' in a clockwise direction on the board. Using this strategy will give you the best chance to win. Note that many people aren't aggressive enough when building on their properties - there is no point hedging your bets in Monopoly!
