What you need to do instead is give it away for free, but ensure you get their email address first. Also take it a step further - let anyone offer your ebook on their site, but ensure you advertise your site inside the ebook. If it's a good read then many others will want to offer it as a freebie on their site so your ebook can spread far and wide, but the proviso is of course everyone who downloads it sees the good information and the link to your site, and therefore have a great chance to come and find you.
