Caring for Straight Hair

I had my hair straightened at a salon and it came out silky and shiny and stayed straight for two days until I washed it. I then bought the same products the salon used and straightened it the same way but it always looks straw like and starts to curl after a half an hour. What am I doing wrong? Is my flattening iron not hot enough? I am at my wits end. Help!

Yeah, do not straighten your hair that often because you can get lots of spilt ends.

Hi Connie,
This is likely an old question regarding your hair but thought I'd send a reply anyway.WOW~ No wonder your hair looks and likely feels like straw. Don't know how soon after the first reverse perm you gave yourself another one. First, depending on how curly your hair is determines how straight it will remain after a perm. My hair is ethnic and very curly. I've used straighteners on my hairs for over 30 years. Some work okay for a while then so so. The best I've used these last few years if called "OPTIMUM CARE" and it seems effective and more gentler. Most of the time, as I said on hair types, after your perm and you wash your hair you need to either roll it up on large rollers or use a hair blower as you hold each hair section outward. Any straightener is hard on the hair because is weakens the bonds. You need to use a high protein product like "ApHOGEE" and follow the directions. It's a bit of pain to use as it hardens the hair at first while drying. Then you need to use a good Keratin product to replace the oils and noursish the hair. Never use a straightener more than every 3-4 months and condition after each shampoo. Also use a shampoo that has No laural or laureth ingred as these tend to strip the hair also as they are strong cleansing agents. Check with a good health store for a gently and nourishing shampoo like JASON prod. and condition, condition, condition. Be gentle with your hair and remember the first line of defense forhealthy hair comes from within. So, be sure you are on a good diet and use a GOOD vit/min supplement with a good balance of Vit B and take oils like Primrose or Borage which is not only good for your hair but for your female system.

GOOD LUCK
Lolita.
