How to clean coffee stains

How do you clean out the accumulated coffee residue stains in a stainless steel thermos (Nissan)? This is not calcification (I use purified water to make coffee).

Replies:

Put 1/2 cup dry baking soda or salt into the thermos, and one cup of crushed ice. Swish until clean. Repeat if needed. Rinse well and let air dry with lid off..
