How to curl hair properly

i keep trying to curl my hair which is quite thick and by the time i get to the top the curls at the bottom have started to fall out.what can i do to keep it curly all night long.i tried putting lots of hair spray in but it seems to make them look less shiny and not as smooth and perfect, and also still do not stay up very securely

Try using a curling styling cream when ur hairs damp, or even curl it using tongs when it is damp that way they dry into position..
