How to get smokey sexy eyes

I'm not too sure on the differece between raccoon eyes an smokey eyes but heres how I personally create the sexy smokey look:
1)apply a base greyish eyeshadow allover the eye, go right up to the browline but gradually fade it out as you get closer to it so its not too savage, the lid should be darker than the browlines.
2)apply a line along the bottom lashes of this same shadow, but smear it with your finger to create that sexy look.
3)Finally, apply a black eyeliner along the top and bottom lashline, smudging it with a cotton bud, its up to you how dramatic you want the look to be but the thicker the line obviously the more dramatic it will look.
4)Last but no means least, apply lots of black mascara to really open your eyes, approx 3-4 coats!.

I think raccoon eyes are more round, and smoky are more curved. also, i think raccoon eyes, the colour goes down really lowon your face.
