To treat blackheads in strange positions such as this first check with your doctor to ensure that they are blackheads.

If so get some recommendations for suitable treatments to remove blackheads from your back.

Did you find something that worked well? My husbands back is covered in blackheads, and he won't let me squeeze them. Anything effective and painless would be appreciated.

If your sure they are pimples then they probably are hereditary and they probably are quite cystic & painful.

Pimples on your back are easier to treat if you have someone to help you & as all pimples thrive in hot greasy climates (ie.under fringes & hot covered backs), it would help even more if your friend/partner is vigilant.

Start by showering twice a day, once in the AM & last thing at night. I use any acne wash I would use on my face and after using a back loofah (be gentle) over the whole affected area, apply acne wash as instructed and rinse off thoroughly. Try finishing with a blast of cold water on your back (&whole body) to close the pores & give all your muscles a wee lift :)

Dry off thoroughly & carefully, cystic pimples tend to bleed abit when the tops come off and you may need firm pressure to staunch the flow. If you can tolerate your friend/partner gently pulling the skin in opposite directions on either side of the pimple with CLEAN hands, in all four directions, to squeeze out any excess and 'ready' exudate. This is more easily tolerated then squeezing which can make it worse. When it has stopped bleeding apply a topical acne cream ('peroxide based' stings but is sterile, antiseptic and has a drying effect) and allow to dry. Short, frequent exposure to the sun is also helpful & speeds up the healing process as does swimming or bathing in salt water. If it is possible, try to leave the area uncovered for as long as possible & avoid letting long hair touch your back. If wearing clothing aggravates your pimples cover with a wide strip of plaster. Cut from a roll works better than sticking plasters as these may aggravate & dont allow the pimple to breathe. Remove the plaster as is practical as even sleeping can be painful.

Keep it up! Twice a day for two weeks. Dont touch with dirty hands! Dont scratch! Dont forget to moisturize the rest of your body. If you dont see any improvement you may need to see a doctor. Either way, I wish you the best of luck!!
