How to use your desktop
How do I take the icons off the desktop, yet not risk losing them altogether, like putting them in My Documents or somewhere like that. I right-clicked on the ones I wanted off and put them in My Documents but they are still on the desktop too.

To remove icons from the desktop, first create a folder called shortcuts or something similar.
Then what you need to do is right-click and drag each icon you want to move.
When you move the icon to the destination folder a context menu comes up one of the options is 'move here'.
Do that and the shortcut or program will move from the desktop to the new location.
