Stomach Toning: The Four Main Muscle Groups

When it comes to toning up your stomach, you need to be aware that there is not just one thing called your 'stomach' that you are working on but rather several sets of muscles.
To use their full names you will be working on:
- upper abdominals
- lower abdominals
- external oblique
- internal oblique
It is important that you work on all of these and they require different exercises. Otherwise you will not derive the full benefit from your exercise program.
Whilst most concentrate on working on the upper two the bottom two will also add shape and definition and therefore you should also take the time to work on these.
I've outlined some stomach toning exercises that will work on each of these in the next few articles.
