Buisness telephone numbers

Hi

Can anyone advise me, on the legal standing if your company folds and the main telephone number which is on all the business cards, van and in yellow pages is a private mobile phone.

I need to know if the person who's phone it is can carry on using it under a different company name, even though its the main number for a lTD company, and there was more than one buisness partner.

Does the person who has the main phone number have to get a new number or not.

That sounds like a potentially tricky situation.

Common sense would suggest that if the phone number was always owned by a private individual rather than the company, then it still belongs to that individual and is theres to use as they please after the company folds.

However as I know nothing about the actual legal situation which is what you want to know I would suggest it might be best finding a specialist legal forum somewhere on the internet to ask it and get a qualified opinion - I'm sure these must exist.

Did you manage to get this sorted out in the end?

As Stephy says it sounds like one of those pretty tricky situtions that could get quite messy with people arguing over something like this!
