Goatskin Rug ...Toothpaste!

As it says in the title. My daughter has managed to get Toothpaste on a brown smooth goatskin rug. She also stood on it to add to the mess!
Any tips on how to remove the toothpaste with minimum damage to the rug would be appreciated.I thought about putting the rug into the freezer and then brushing it with a stiff brush but not sure.Or running it under cold water.

Any advice welcome.
