How do I become a personal shopper?

This is quite a hard career to get into as it is competitive and you need to have some experience too.

Start off trying to get in with companies that have personal shopper services, for instance the larger department stores have this service, so send your CV to them and see if you can get a meeting to gain experience.

You could set up a website online that offers this service and promote it and see if you can get a portfolio of clients that way, this will then make you much more attractive when approaching large companies to get a job in this sector.

You could try going to a large department store such as Debenhams, as many of their branches offer a free personal shopper service.

Get a job working there at first, and then when you are working there ask them about the personal shopper service and ask their current personal shoppers how it works.

Then when a vacancy for one comes up, you can apply for it.

Once you have the job this then enables you to go freelance and work for yourself as a personal shopper in the future, you are much more likely to get work as one if you can show you have experience with a reputable company first.

Yes I agree with the advice above on becoming a personal shopper, you will probably need to do it at a recognised company or already be a name in fashion before personal clients will take you on.

However as Davey says you could perhaps offer the service from a website and see if anyone takes you up on the offer, but I think that this might be being a bit optimistic as people will be wary of filling in a form online with their contact details and getting the services of someone that they don't really know!

What's Liescter? Do you mean Leicester?

Anyway I don't know about acting jobs, but from what I have heard from other people is that the key with acting is to go to LOTS of auditions - go to as many as you can.

This has two purposes - the more you attend the better you get as you learn from the feedback that they give and learn to pick up on what is important to them - like how to play the role. You also help to deal with nerves.

And secondly the more you go to the more chance there is to get the job. Because so many people want to do acting because it is seen as a fun and glamorous job you will have on average many rejections for each job that you land, even if you are good and talented just because there is so much competition so you need a thick skin and not to give up easily.
