How to work out 10%

Anyone know how to work out 10% of 1800?
I need the steps on how to do it. I have to work out 10% of big amounts at work and I am unable to. Please someone help ;-0 Thanks x

10% of 1800 = 1800*10/100 = 180. To have the answer quickly just drop one zero.

% means out of 100. so 10% is the same as 10/100.the next step is to say 10/100 multiplied by 1800.the answer becomes 180.simple hey......

Yes as mentioned above this is quite easily to calculate once you understand what a percentage is. So it's 0.1 x 1800 which is 180.

As a sanity check when working out percentages you can always just divide by 100 then multiply by the percentage you need.

So to calculate 15.67% of 200 you can always just divide 200 by 100 and then multiply by 15.67, this works whatever the particular number and percentage you are working with. It is good to understand why things work in maths but sometimes you can also just learn a method and blindly apply it, the result is the same both times.
