Hi

Does anyone have any good tips on how to market a small business on a budget?

Standard advertising is expensive, but there must be ways of getting your product in front of people without spending too much surely!

Hi Dannyboy

There are lots of things that you can do!

The most [green]obvious[/green] would be to simply tell all your friends and family about the business and get them to pass the message on to anyone that they meet - [blue]word of mouth[/blue] is a great way to get business.

Or how about setting up a website too and trying to get it listed for your target search queries?

[red]Imagination[/red] is what you need, not budget!

Good luck!

Yes there are lots of ways to advertise on a small budget or none at all, like already mentioned - it just requires a little imagination!

There is an old saying that a quality product that fills a need will sell itself. Whilst that's true in this day and age you do also need some marketing to help kick start sales with even a great product.

Use things such as the internet and websites to open up your product to a much larger audience without breaking the bank in terms of costs, and use things like promotional leaflets in local newspapers - these are cheap and easy to get sorted and will get your name in front of many local people for a price that isn't too scary!
