Maths Question

I've found the following problem in a book. I have the answer, but I just want to know how it's done!

"In the following sum, each letter represents a different number from 1 to 6 inclusive.

AB
x C

= DEF

What is the sum?"

I worked out that D must be either 1, 2 or 3, but that's as far as I got. How would you work it out?
