Missing money

I bank with nationwide on the 21 june i tranferred 1000 onto my cash plan card but it went into some bodies account i have phoned up 4 times now and they say they will put a trace on it but nothing happens,iam a oap and cant afford to loser this money.can any body help please.

Oh dear that sounds very unfortunate indeed.

You should perhaps go into your branch and talk about it face to face and explain that you made a mistake and where you wanted it to go.

If you don't get a good response or one you are satisfied with then you can always complain to the financial ombudsman which will look into your complaint in an independent way - your bank will provide you details of this service.

If you transfer money to another account it might not be that nationwide can do anything about it unless that person voluntarily gives the money back, but as to the legality of it you would need to check with a lawyer as there may actually be any legal reason that they should give it back, just morality as in being the right thing to do!
