Performing

I am interested in beoming an actress or taking part in musical theatre, but do not have an agent. My strongest point is acting, so would rather have some help getting started in film or television. I have been to several open auditions, but these do not seem to be allowing those who are not represented by an agent to fulfil their potential.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Perhaps go to stage or drama school and see if that works for you?

I don't know anything much about how to get that big break or how to get an agent but I would agree with what knowitall says - from what I have heard, succeeding in the world of performing acts is all about persistence.

That and being pushy: smile sweetly, be friendly and enthusiastic, if you fail to get a role ask if there might be any other roles, perhaps lesser roles, that you might be suitable for.

The whole thing is about networking and getting on well with people and going to as many auditions as you can, not necessarily about the one who has instant star quality, that can come later and there are many more roles than there are stars! Stars are made not born, after all
