What's the best careers advice you've been given - there is so much advice out there?

Forgot to add my own best tip:

There is a lot of emphasis on competition in this world and comparing yourself to your peers, which can make you miserable.

The best advice I received was simple: take things at your own pace and be happy with what you are doing - comparing yourself to how much or little your friends earn will just make miserable.

To be persistent is the best careers advice I had.

Don't give up the first time you get rejected going for the sort of job you want to do. It is natural to get dis-spirited when you don't get the job you want, but try to use it as motivation to try even harder and don't give up.

I've known too many people who give up on their dream career path or desired new career direction due to one interview failure or bad experience.

If you have a career goal work at it, be persistent, and in time the right opportunity will come along for you.
