I had a problem with a toilet not flushing recently.

There are several possible causes of this, I am by no means an expert, but here are a few things to look at:

Is the water getting into the tank? Take the lid off the top of the tank to see if it is filling up with water.

If there is no water then check the supply - get that fixed. If there is but it is really slow, then perhaps the little tap that water comes into the water storage tank from is blocked or may need replacing.

If that's all fine, then if nothing happens when you pull down the plunger then probably the mechanism of the plunger has broken and needs replacing. If it is nothing obvious then it would be worth getting an expert in, and remember if you do fiddle around turn the water to the toilet off first and empty out the bowl as necessary manually!

If it won't flush then as mentioned above it could be the plastic lining within the plunging device that has gone. You will need to turn off the water to the bowl in order to investigate assuming that is not the problem as otherwise when you take off the lid and start trying to find out what is going on water could spill out!
