Why are TV presenters paid so much?

One thing that I never understand: WHY are TV presenters paid so much.

Like Adrian Chiles goes to ITV for millions, but no-one actually seems to like him.

Now christine bleakley who is just A.N.Other TV presenter - no special talents or abilities - gets paid mega bucks to go to ITV too.

BUT you could replace these with anyone who is capable of reading text off an autocue and no one would notice a difference.

Fair enough pay pilots a good wage, or brain surgeons, but why do the people who require the least talent of any job in the world - and that millions of other people would love to do for much less money - get paid so much???!!!!!

I think it is just the way it has always been.

You could ask why is anyone paid what they are paid, and it can seem very random.

after all postmen and binmen etc do some really important jobs that we would all suffer without, but get paid very little. Whilst city fatcats do work that seems very remote from our daily lives and whether anyone would notice if they stopped is questionable yet they get a fortune.

TV presenters is a bit of a mystery I have to agree, since it doesn't seem to require any special talent or skills, other than a friendly face and having a voice that people can understand... but with most TV shows if the presenters changed I don't think it would affect audience figures anywhere near as much as the people that decide to pay them these huge salaries think!

Yeah and like soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan are risking their lives everyday are getting paid diddly squat. And footballers like Wayne Rooney get paid millions just kicking a ball about. And all he spends his money on is hookers. Things like this are morally wrong. But unfortunately it takes more than just words to be heard these days.
