How can you categorise business in terms of size?

In the UK at least countries tend to get categorised as small, medium and large businesses.

Generally these are demarcated based on the turnover of the company.

Therefore those that have say less than a million are small companies, up to say 50 million are medium businesses and above that threshold are large businesses.
