Name 3 diffierent ways that the size of a business can be measured

There are many possible measures of the size of a business. It depends what you are looking at.

Common sense can be used to work out the size of a business quite often. Here are a few measures that you might use to work out the size of a business.

The first is simple - the number of employees.

As a rule the larger the business the more staff that it employs. Certainly with traditional businesses this was the case though admittedly in modern days with internet based companies there may be many less employees than for a traditional company.

A second measure is a financial one, and is to do with the turnover.

The bigger the company often the bigger the company, that is the more money comes in and out and they therefore deal with.

So those are two clear measures for the size of a business.

Another measure that you might use would be whether it is listed on a stock market or not. Typically a big company will be listed and have shares, smaller ones will be private.

In addition to these there are a host of financial measures you might like to use, such as market capitalisation, profit, years of trading and so on.
