Contents Insurance Explained

Money : Insurance

Contents insurance is the second type of home insurance, online with building insurance.

With contents insurance, you are covered against the loss and usually damage to possessions within your home.

Usually you estimate the total value of your belongings and get insurance against that amount. So the more valuable the content in your home, the higher the insurance will tend to be, which makes sense - though the bands do tend to be quite broad.

You also usually need to state items of specific value, for instance items above £1,000, and with really expensive items it is often a sensible idea to take out independent insurance specifically on those items.
