Jobs : Job Profiles

A copy writer, as the name suggests, writes text or short prose ('copy') for any client, from the individual, the small business right through to major coprorations.

Key skills:

- superb english and grammar, a clear writing style and ability to communicate often difficult ideas in simple, non-technical language

- ability to assimilate the needs of a client quickly in order to produce the desired result

- attention to detail

Skills:

A degree is usually required; often in english or journalist, or an arts subject that required use of prose

If you specialise in a certain area then clearly qualifications in that area are a must.

The rewards can be good. There are many opportunities either to work full time as an in house editorial team member, or alternatively many people freelance or even set up their own company.

The proliferation of online publications has meant that is a whole host of vacancies for writers out there, and specialising in online copy is now a realistic choice.
