How To Deal With Publishers

Hobbies : Writing

Publishers always seem to hold an unfair balance of power in the book market, and sadly some of them know it.

Whilst you don't really want to work with them sometimes, of course you have to - as they are the route to market unless you decide to self publish, itself a tricky route that can cost a lot for little or no return at all.

When dealing with publishers you should always be polite, courteous and prompt. Even when frustration sets in don't let it boil over and show as this will not help.

Remember to be cautious too, though, as it's a sad fact that not all publishers are fully scrupulous, as well as being able to change their mind full circle at a moments notice.

Therefore always go into any dealings or negotiations with publishers with eyes wide open, and be prepared to wait a while to get your money, too!
