The big problem comes when people are really impatient and apply a coat, don't think it has worked much then apply another coat. Then an hour later - they are bright orange! Many of these products take some time to blend in and bind correctly to the skin. Therefore after applying a coat, give it an hour before you decide what the results are of the coating; applying again too quickly can lead to a tan that is much too strong!
