Remember that when filing nails this should never be done after a bath or shower, as the water then softens the nails too much and makes this impossible. Use an emery board and not a metal file for best results. The best motion for filing is to move across the top of the nail at speed but under control, and keep going until you get the desired shape. Do not press too hard on the nail as you do not want to damage it!
