How To Fix A Clothes Zip

Beauty : Clothes And Fashion

If the zip in question keeps sticking or is jammed halfway up or down, the first thing you should check is if there are any loose threads that are getting caught on it. If so, use a small pair of nail scissors to cut them where they are entering the sliding part of the zip and pull them through. If there don't seem to be any threads or material jamming it, then it could be the teeth that are sticky, so rubbing some candle wax or soap over them will help to ease things.

When your zip seems to have burst, that means there is a gap in the middle where you have zipped it up, you will need to take off the bit at the bottom called the stop - you can do this with pliers. The stop is the horizontal piece of metal or plastic at the bottom of the teeth. Once this has been removed, you can fix the gap and move the zip up and down the teeth so that all the teeth feed back into it correctly.

Then you should zip it up completely and replace the stop. However you won't be able to put the old one back on as once you remove it with pliers it is rendered useless, so you should use a strong thread and sew one on the bottom yourself, just thick enough to do the job of keeping the zip on the teeth.

All you do is sew several stitches across the bottom of the zipper and this creates the effect of the old stop.
