How To Fix Peeling Paint In A Bathroom

DIY : Decorating

If paint peels on the walls, especially in the bathroom, here is how to fix it.

Get a fine grit sand paper to gently buff the edges of the peeling paint. Do it until the edges are well blended and smooth, matching the general surface of the wall.

Clean the surfaces with a detergent specialised in cleaning paint. Thoroughly rinse off with hot water after and dont leave any left on it.

Allow them to dry completely. Before you paint, make sure its not steamy because of recent showers or baths. Open the window.

Add an oil based base coat to all areas that have been sanded and cleaned properly. Follow the directions on the tin and allow to dry properly.

Make sure it matches the existing shade on the walls, and mix thoroughly before you use it. Use a sponge brush to apply it to the affected areas that need re doing.

A second coat may be needed. Use a roller to do this. Allow to dry and keep the window open for as long as possible.
