How To Improve Your Home Security
Miscellaneous All windows should be fitted to obligatory British Standards, for improved security. Double glazing and laminated glass is highly recommended, as these are tougher to break. Always lock doors and windows when not in use, and keep valuable items away from outside view. Fit a burglar alarm and security light. If you want to go one step further then you could install CCTV cameras too. Keep keys away from any door entrances or windows as intruders can hook onto these via a letterbox. Plant shrubs with thorns around the edges of your home so it makes it more difficult for an unwanted person to gain access. It might also be an idea to place spikes or barbed wire on top of any walls around your garden. Make sure all gates or fences are sturdy, and place tall trees in your yard to help block any access points. Cut back any hedges so that your property is not hidden from any view of neighbours who can keep an eye on things for you. Be careful who you tell when you go on holiday too.
