How To Leave Your House When You Go On Holiday
Travel : Travel Tips One thing we all worry about when going on holiday is whether we have left the house secure and safe, and if we'll find it in the same condition when we get back. First things first, make sure it is not announced to everyone that you are going on holiday. Dont let your kids post a status on Facebook etc, as everyone will know your house will be empty that week. Obviously you could tell a trusted neighbour to keep an eye on things whilst you are away. Make sure any deliveries or post are pushed well inside the house. You may want to install a security light or use a timer for a couple of your lamps, so as to create the illusion that someone is at home. Also keeping curtains semi open can help. Ensure all cars, doors and windows are locked and secure. Turn appliances like straighteners off and unplug any heaters or fireplaces. Switching TVs or computers off at the mains is also a good idea, to avoid any risks of fires starting. Dont leave a spare set of keys on display, especially near your front door, and hide any valuable items away in the loft or a safe.
