Your Mailing List: The Key Decision

Computing : Newsletters

The key decision with a mailing list is whether you are going to sell to people anonymously or as yourself, the person.

It is said that people buy from people however many are uncomfortable about selling things with their face on and staking their reputation.

In other words, what is the brand? Is it you the person the individual, or the site as an anonymous entity?

Clearly with anything other than a one man band it is the company, but the majority of readers of this will be ostensibly one man or woman outfits.

In this case, and particularly if you are selling YOUR skills then the newsletter needs to come from yourself.

Research has shown in this instance you need to use your name frequently and also including a photograph of yourself can greatly increase the chance of people buying.

We are visual people and like to put a face to a name - if we can do that, then we are much more likely to buy!
