Clean muddy clothes

The city was opening fire hydrant while I was doing white clothes in laundry. My white socks are completely brown and my lite prints are streaked with muddy brown color. How do i get this muddy dirty water out. Thank You?

For truly muddy clothes, don't just throw straight back into the washing machine.

Give them a pre wash first in warm soapy water and use your hands to wring them - the old fashioned method - to get the worst of the dirt out.

Frequently change the water for best results.
