How to clean starchy shirts

My husband has taken a fancy to coloured cotton shirts. He likes them well starched. The problem is that I find it very difficult to iron them without getting starch stains!

I have tried using the instant laundry starch, and the powered variety, and prefer the crispness of the powered starch that needs mixing. Any hints or tips to make this easier??

- I cannot spray water on the shirt as this causes spotting.

- I have tried drip drying, but I still get starch stains if I do a number of shirts because they don't dry at an even rate.

- Although you're not supposed to tumble dry the shirts when starched I have tried it and it made it so much worse...

Help! It's driving me crazy!

Here's an idea - if your husband likes these starchy shirts so much then get him to do the cleaning and ironing.

Then the problem is solved for you because it is his problem!

If he still persists in his preferences then either he will find a solution or he can go back to easier to iron shirts and then you can graciously offer to iron for him again!
