Black to Blonde Hair

I have dyed black hair, but I want to go blonde. I've heard two different things from two different hairdressers though- one said the only way to lighten it is to bleach over the dye, the other said that the black colour must be stripped first. Any ideas?! Thanks. x

Strip out the first colour before applying the second for sure.

If you bleach then it can both damage the hair and you will also have less control over the resultant colour.

Therefore I would agree with the second hairdresser over the first, though by now you might have done the first but lets hope not!
