Kids Puzzles Discussed...

Puzzles are a great educational aid for kids, offering a fun and developmental challenge to their rational faculties.

It is always hard to find ways of teaching kids that they enjoy, and puzzles are a good example of exactly the sort of material that offers both a challenge and fun at the same time.

If you want to get kids using and manipulating numbers with simple sums, for instance, then why not try some kids kakuro puzzles? These give them a purpose in that they get the satisfaction of completing a puzzle rather than just doing sums from a maths textbook.

Kids kakuro is a great puzzle for developing addition skills, combined with elements of logic as they also need to ascertain which numbers go where, and think a couple of steps ahead to see what combinations could fit further on in the puzzle if they place a certain combination in a current run.

For general kids logic and developing logical abilities and thinking, sudoku is an excellent puzzle. The puzzle involves numbers by default but no maths is needed - the puzzle is all about deducing which numbers could go where.

There are other puzzles based on these themes that are good, offering similar sort of challenges.

In addition, kids word puzzles are also good for developing vocabulary, thinking and knowledge of the english language. There are a variety of puzzles that might be of interest to children, such as mini crosswords, and even codeword puzzles, word ladder, wordwheels and more.
