How To Create A Fish Pond
Pets : Fish Many people either don't like the idea of keeping fish indoors in a small tank, or just have loftier ambitions. Many people like the idea of building a fish pond, but note that it can be hard work to do so! Clearly the key aspect is to dig and line the pond, which requires patience and not a little pond. Of course, when you start the pond you will be adding tap water rather than relying on natural rain water. This means that you should either leave the water a couple of months before adding fish, in order to make the water 'natural' or alternatively dechlorinate the water. This will make it much more suitable for plants and of course your fish. Ensure that you add rooted plants to the water and oxygenating pond weed too. A little fountain will also be great at keeping the pond aerated. Add some cover for fish to hide under, for instance they love swimming under lily leaves. Depending on the size of the pond and amount of food available in the pond, you will need to feed your fish once a day. In a large size established pond you might not need to feed your goldfish except in winter - certainly I never feed mine in Spring or Summer as there is so much food naturally in the water.
