How To Curl Your Hair

Beauty : Haircare

If you are using normal curling tongs this is the best way to get a good result, but if you are using the new kind which dry your hair as it curls it, then your hair is better off being damp when you start work on it.

Hair curling explained

Depending on the type of curl you want, you should use tongs with a thick stem for bouncy, loose curls and a narrower one for corkscrew curls. Be careful when using the tongs as they become very hot and it is easy to burn your scalp, so never hold them directly against it.

Hair Curling Technique

Make sure your hair is dry before you begin, and try to blow dry it as straight as this will get rid of waves. Some people like to add mousse or hairspray to give volume and make the curls bigger and last longer. Divide your hair into sections and work from the bottom of your hair upwards. Take each section and roll round the heated part of the curling tongs, hold it in place for about 10 seconds. Open the curling iron and let the curl slide off the tongs.

Best hair curling results

Once all the sections have been curled, gently shake the curls out and move into position with your fingers. Don't brush or comb your hair or you will pull the curls out!
Lightly spritz all over with a holding spray to keep style in place.

More hair curling advice

I just discovered how to curl with ghds, take a section of hair, start at the top and twist the irons around the hair until you get to the end. dont hold the straightners tightly or the pressure will ruin your hair and it will make it terribly difficult. good luck babes
