Driving During A Flood
Hobbies : Cars And Motoring Flash flooding has become more and more common in the UK over recent years and can cause havoc on the roads. The stopping distance when water is on the road, is more than double the normal rate, so always be aware of this. Look out for aquaplaning, which is when your types lose all their grip and start sliding across lying water. Do not turn the wheel or slam on the brakes if this happens. If you turn corners, then water can make it behave as if it is on ice, so always drive slowly. Drive as far from the kerb as possible so you can stay clear of the deeper areas, and avoid soaking other people too. Never drive through fast flowing water, and always test your brakes when you have exited a deep area. Avoid driving too close to the car in front, as spray reduce visibility and increases your stopping distance. If you really do not need to go out and can avoid it, then the best option is to stay at home.
