How To Exfoliate Skin

Beauty : Skincare

Exfoliating your skin regularly is good for your skin as it removes the layers of dead cells and gives your skin more of a healthy glow. It is also a good thing to do before you apply a fake tanning lotion.

Cleaning and Exfoliating Skin

Buy a cleanser that is appropriate for your kind of skin, eg oily, dry etc, and then you can also use a loofah or special exfoliating gloves or a sponge to apply it to your body in circular motions. A recommended homemade exfoliator is to spread mashed papaya over your body, as the enzymes it contains exfoliates the skin. Make sure your body is wet first of all by having a bath or shower, and be careful when you are spreading it onto delicate areas like your neck and thighs.

Rinse your body thoroughly afterwards and don't forget to moisturise well, as although the exfoliator is good in removing the dead cells, it also dries your skin so moisturiser is extra important.

Exfoliation: Mistakes

Don't exfoliate too much, every week is probably enough, otherwise you can actually damage the skin by making it too dry.

More skin care advice

Make sure you moisturise daily.

A cheap way to exfoliate, put 3 teaspoons of granulated sugar into your normal shower gel. It melts in the water, which is great, but also removes dead skin.
