Genealogy Techniques For Tracing Your Family History

Hobbies : Genealogy

One thing that you learn over time when reading genealogical records is that you shouldn't actually believe everything that you read!

For instance, names are often spelt incorrectly on records as they were written down as they sound to the ear, rather than how they should actually be written down.

Therefore someone with the surname 'Moore' might have this recorded as 'More' and obscure surnames could be written down a long way from the actual spelling!

Therefore you should cross reference as much as possible all the variants of a name that you can think of with the places and dates that you already have established to have the best chance!
