There is no doubt that some people who run a newsletter gain a lot more from it than other newsletter writers.

Whilst the amount of traffic you have is clearly an element, the most important element is actually you. It is how you write and structure and communicate that e-newsletter that decides whether it is something that takes an hour of your time a month for no return, or whether it is one of the best investments you ever make.

To increase sales with your newsletter, you have to impress with your newsletter. Yet too many owners of a list lose enthusiasm and trot out any old rubbish after the first couple of months.

If this happens to you, get refreshed and reinvigorated in your list, or shut it down. You need to be passionate about what you do, and communicate in a passionate way. But as well as passion, you need clarity. You also need to explain to people the benefits of adopting the approach you recommend.

Then encourage them to get in touch with you - actively ask them to email you with any questions they have, or to give you a call - whatever you can do to encourage them to interact with the person behind the newsletter and not just the newsletter itself, the much more likely you are to derive further benefit and sales as the owner of the newsletter.
