One key aspect will be add more bedding so that your pet can stay warmer than is needed in the summer - lots of straw and hay is great for this and will help them store their body heat. You should also consider moving them somewhere a little bit warmer - for instance if you don't use your garage to store a car then whilst it may be rather cool it should be warmer than being outside, so this is another possibility. Finally, you chould even get a special indoor hutch or cage, and allow the pet in one of the downstairs rooms over winter.
