How To Make Your Web Site Load Faster

Computing : Web Sites

Usually if your web site loads slowly, images are the major culprit. If this is the case, there is a lot you can do to reduce download time.

- Make sure images are either GIF or JPEG.

- Use your software to reduce the size of the images to the smallest that you are prepared to display on the site.

- Try to reduce GIF images from 256 to 128 colours using your image software. Reduce your JPEGs to a quality of 60 - 80% - the effect should not be too drastic.

Finally, try and reduce the number of images on the page - if any are redundant, simply get rid of them!
