Part 2g: Interview Mistakes: Lack Of Confidence

Jobs : Successful Job Search Interview Process

A more common reason for failing an interview is that the interviewer(s) think that you simply lack confidence to a significant extent.

The reason for this is that those who do not appear confident are unlikely to be trusted by others, as it can go hand in hand with lack of competence and a certain inability to get things done.

This may not be through capability of course, but companies cannot afford to employ someone who has very little confidence, as this will be a hindrance to their future development, and hence to the development of the company as well.

So, if you feel that you are lacking in confidence for whatever reason, then you need to try and display it for the interview.

Think about how you would feel if you were interviewing - what would you look for? You want someone who appears confident and able to do the tasks you demand of them in the job.

Therefore you should try your best to project these, even if naturally you are not the most confident of individuals.

You can always work on your confidence once you have got the job if it is a real problem for you - many courses are run, and companies may help you to finance this.
